I have seen several other Panasonic Digital Camcorders that have an affordable price tag, but still offer great quality with 3 CCD technology and decent optical zoom, something that is extremely important for obtaining clear pictures from any distance. I haven't used it for that purpose yet, but I double checked with the manual and you can use it to record from an S-Video source. I would still highly recommend the camera after using it for about 7 months now.
