My Essential PC Application List
As I’ve been installing apps on my laptop I’ve been keeping a list of what I installed. So, this post is basically just a list of applications that are essential for me. I’m hoping you’ll find something interesting or useful too.

- Thunderbird

- LCD Test (Test for dead pixels)

- SciTe4AutoIT
- Command Prompt Here and Tweak UI PowerToys
I specifically use TweakUI to turn off autorun for all drives. No Sony Rootkit for me, thank you very much. - Java Runtime Environment

- PHP Eclipse

- MySQL Development Tools
- ExamDiff - Use to compare files
- MP3 Direct Cut - Simple MP3 editor
- SSH Secure Shell
- Skype (Free calls through the end of the year)
- VLC Media Player
- Windows Media Player 10
- Or Windows Media Player 11 Beta (if you’re brave.. I’m not)
- AVG Anti-Virus
- Bittornado Bit Torrent Client
- Juice Receiver - For receiving podcasts

Hmm, good list, lots in common, although I also have:
Filezilla, Xchat, Gaim
and eventually I’ll pull down Cygwin and gvim for development

I would add RealVNC, important for remote access if you have multiple PC’s

I would change AVG Anti-virus to Avast! Antivirus (http://www.avast.com)

I would definately use µtorrent (utorrent) over any other bit-torrent programs.
It’s small, fast, feature packed, and a non-install single executabel, similar to your PC-Decrapifier.
You should give it a go.
