Thanks to intrusive advertising, we sometimes forget that the browser pop-up functionality can actually be useful. In this particular case, I was playing with the Notify New Mail Popup plug-in for SquirrelMail the other day and I came across an interesting “feature” of Firefox.

Putting Digital Photos into a Picture Frame

If you’re like most people these days you’ve got a lot of digital photos, and chances are, you’ve also got picture frames. Here, I’m talking about collage frames (here’s an example.) These are the frames that hold multiple pictures of varying sizes. What I have found is that maybe when I first get the frame I will take the time to crop and trim pictures to just the right size and populate the frame. It tends to be a tedious task and therefore, the pictures never get updated again. Well, I think I’ve found a better way…

Funnel Web Analyzer Custom Log Format

Recently, my friend Rob pointed me at a really cool program for doing statistical analysis on web logs. It’s called Funnel Web by Quest Software. After seeing the sample reports I was very impressed, but initially I had some problems setting it up to use the web logs from my hosting provider (1and1) Here’s how I fixed it.

TMPGEnc Batch List Creator

Canon Pixma IP3000 Printer Review

I recently bought this Canon PIXMA iP3000 Photo Printer from Newegg.com. I was looking for a replacement for my nearly 5 year old Canon BJC-6000. It needed a new black print head again, so I decided it was time to get a new printer. It had served me well.

Where’s my Info Balloon?

I’ve recently discovered a problem with my dotNet program. Well, as I found out, it may not be a problem with my program. I display a maximized, borderless window (#1) and then transition to a normal, sizable bordered window (#2), which is also maximized. The borderless window, when maximized, covers the taskbar, which is fine. However window #1 creates window #2, which apparently also gives window #2 a higher z-order than the task bar. When window #2 finishes loading, it sends an event to window #1, instructing it to close.
